Big Book Discussion

Welcome to the Conscious Contact Meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous.

My name is ______ and I am an alcoholic.

This is an open meeting of AA. All are welcome to attend.

This group meets every morning at 7 AM.

You can find the different meeting formats, the readings, and A.A. literature on our website at ccglox.org or you can scan the QR code.

Are there any announcements AA or other?

Just a reminder, please refrain from offensive language and from reading non – AA Literature.

Also, could you please put your cell phones on silent or vibrate? Thank you.

Is there anyone here for the first time or just coming back? Please identify yourself so that we can welcome you.

Is there anyone here for their first, second or third AA meeting or in their first 30 days? We would like to welcome you as well.

For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority – a loving God as He may express Himself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants, they do not govern.

Let us have a moment of silence followed by the Serenity Prayer.

I’ve asked a friend to read the Alcoholics Anonymous Preamble.

I’ve asked a friend to read How It Works.

I’ve asked a friend to read The Promises.

I’ve asked a friend to read today’s Reflections Meditation.

Are there any temporary sponsors?

If you need a sponsor or phone numbers, please talk to these people after the meeting.

Group members?

If you want to become a member see one of

these members.

According to the 7th tradition, the basket is being passed.

The opinions expressed here are personal opinions. Take what you need and leave the rest.

If you still need to talk, ask another member for their experience, strength, and hope.

If you came in with a problem, DO NOT LEAVE with it.

Remember, “Anonymity is the Spiritual foundation of all our Traditions, ever reminding us to place Principles before personalities.”

What you hear here, who you see here, let it Stay here when you leave here!”

HERE! HERE!

IS THERE ANYONE HERE STRUGGLING who WOULD LIKE TO SHARE?

You may do so now, or at any time during this meeting.

Note for the leader:

If someone shares that they are struggling, others may spontaneously start sharing to support the person struggling. The leader then can either:

  • Continue with the topic at hand, or

  • Pick up where we left off reading in the Big Book and sharing about what we have read.

Some guidelines for the leader if needed:

  • If a meeting becomes dominated by a few members sharing several times, it can be a good idea to jump in, in-between shares, and say something like, "Is there anyone here who hasn't shared and would like to?"

  • If a long period of silence ensues, take a deep breath and relax. Someone will break the silence. Some people need silence to come out of their shell.

  • No later than 7:55, announce that the time for sharing has come to an end. If people were left wanting to share, suggest that they talk with someone after the meeting.

Now I’ve asked a friend to read On Awakening.

May I have a volunteer to present the Chips?

Have a good day...unless you’re planning otherwise!

Please Help Clean up!!!

We close with The Lord’s Prayer.
